Important things and news

There has been something that has been bothering me.

Photographer unknown

People don’t know the correct term for a group of cats. People know a Pride is a group of lions, a Flock is for a group of goat or sheep, a School for a group of fish. But the term for a group of cats is practically unknown. So I will educate you all on this word. ‘Clowder.’ Yes, a group of cats is called a clowder. Now, don’t go asking me why. Interestingly, there are also two other valid ways to refer to a group of cats. Those other two terms are ‘clutter’ and ‘glaring’.  Pretty crazy, eh?
If one wants to refer to a group of wild cats, the correct terms are ‘dowt’ and ‘destruction.’ Honestly, I am not sure why those are use either.

Now on to other important news. Continue reading

Writers and kitties + tumblr

There is a great tumblr blog “Writers and Kitties: Where literature has whiskers and pointy ears.”
Visit the blog and go through the pages. There are tons of photographs of famous writers with their unsung kitties. I found it to be fascinating and time consuming. It just confirmed my belief more and more that writers and kitties go hand in hand and paw in paw. (If you’re allergic to cats and are writer, I am truly sorry for your misfortune.)

Window-watching

I love window-watching. To stare out at a world that is ever-changing, so full of birds, chipmunks, insects, dogs, and humans. I love watching them, imagining how I might chase and catch them,  or hide from them. But I cannot do either since I am separated from them by glass. They see me, I can tell, but they don’t act like it. It’s like I am invisible behind an invisible wall. I love it.  I can watch them in peace.

The thing I’ve noticed from also watching my writer is that she watching things, too. I think all writers do this. It’s more than “people-watching,” writers watch everything. It’s where they draw there inspiration from. They watch and, like me, imagine. Imagining what if something happened, and then the next what-if. For cats and writers, the “what-ifs” are endless and are what makes us keep watching and imagining. Continue reading

A cat and her writer (first post)

Writers and kitties seem to go together, in my mind at least. Where there’s a writer furiously writing away, there is a cat close by.
My name is Katy and I am a black cat. Writers and black cats tend to have stigmas that are instantly associated with them. The stigmas that are associated with writers might indeed be true (depending on the writer), but the stigmas associated with black cats couldn’t be more wrong. I want to get it out in the open that we are one of the most “luckiest” cats that could cross your path, let alone a person could own, just ask my writer.

Now, about my writer, Sarrah Kaliski, I have known her since I was a very, very small kitten, when she rescued me from the terrors of Continue reading
